Stephen M. DeFrancesco, Sr., 74 of Peterborough, NH died Sunday January 18, 2026 at the Parkland Medical Center, Derry, NH. He was born in E. Boston, MA on September 5, 1951, a son of the late Francis and Mary (O’Connell) DeFrancesco. He had been a resident of Peterborough for the past five years, formerly a longtime resident of Derry.
Steve was known by friends and family as “Papa”. At one time he owned & operated his cab company called “Papa’s Taxi” which was fitting as he was always a happy, friendly guy. You may have seen him racing down Broadway on his electric motor chair. He loved to stop and chat with familiar faces about the “good ‘ol days”. He was always humming a tune and he loved music, especially the 50’s era. Steve had a good sense of humor and saw it in most things. He will be dearly missed by many.
He leaves behind his sons Stephen Jr. and his wife Pamela of Derry, Danny and daughter Shelly (Ward) both of Sandown, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Steve was predeceased by his brothers Francis and Joseph DeFrancesco and his sisters Frances and Mary.
There are no calling hours. Graveside services will be held on Friday January 23, 2026 at 11:00am at Forest Hill Cemetery, East Derry Road, East Derry, NH.
