Edward G. Dwyer, 85, of Millis, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving family, after enduring a fouryear battle with cancer which he did with unwavering hope, deep faith, and remarkable courage.
Ed was born on November 8, 1940, in Boston, Massachusetts. After a brief yet deeply meaningful time serving in the United States Marine Corps, he began a long career as a sprinkler fitter with Local 550, a trade he dedicated more than 40 years to and one in which he took great pride.
Ed was the devoted husband of Rita (Nelligan) for 64 wonderful years. He was the loving father of the late Rita Graci and her husband Brad of Palm Coast Fl; Donna DeBenedictis and her late husband Robert of Franklin; the late Marylou Sylvester of Medway; and John Dwyer and his wife Beth of Millis.
He was the proud grandfather of the late Kristin Graci of Franklin; Justin Graci and his wife Christina of Waterbury, Vermont; Meghan Meehan of Sagamore Beach, Massachusetts; Kyle Sylvester of Blackstone, Massachusetts; as well as his stepgrandchildren, Tyler Angel and his wife Jessica of Medway, and Brittany Angel and her husband Jared of Leominster.
One of the greatest joys of Ed’s final days was learning of the birth of his greatgranddaughter, Maia Rita Graci, who arrived just days before his passing. The news brought him profound happiness and comfort.
Ed had a lifelong passion for NASCAR and especially loved traveling to Daytona, Florida, to experience the excitement of the Daytona 500 in person. He was a lifetime member of the Boggestowe Fish and Game Club of Millis, a member of the Franklin Elks, American Legion Post 208 of Millis and a former member of the Fin, Fur and Feather Club of Millis. These communities were an important part of his life, offering friendship, camaraderie, and countless memories.
Ed will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his gift for storytelling, his steadfast convictions, and, above all, his deep love for his family.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage Street, Franklin, Massachusetts.
