Obituary


Bridget (Egan) McLaughlin, a longtime Woburn resident passed away peacefully, Saturday, January 17, 2026, at her home in Woburn surrounded by her loving family. She was 87. Bridget was the beloved wife of the late Laurence B. McLaughlin and prior to his passing they shared 66 years of marriage. Born in Oranmore, county Galway, Ireland, she was one of six children of the late John and Mary (Moran) Egan.

Bridget immigrated to the United States in 1956, first living with her sister and aunt in Watertown. She worked for a period of time for the Houghton Mifflin Publishing Company formerly of Cambridge. She met the love of her life and future husband while attending a dance at the Hibernian Hall in Boston. Shortly after her marriage to Laurence the couple settled in Woburn where they lovingly raised their family and still reside today. Proud of her Irish heritage, Bridget enjoyed singing, Irish step dancing, and was very talented musically playing the Tin Whistle as well as the organ.

Bridget's home was always a warm and welcoming place for family and friends to visit, everyone and anyone was always welcomed. For many years together with her husband Laurence they could be found walking horn pond, they enjoyed traveling back to Ireland to visit family and friends. Family was everything to Bridget and nothing made her happier than to be surrounded by those she loved and especially her adored grandchildren.

In addition to her late parents and husband, Bridget is sadly predeceased by her siblings, the late John Egan, Teresa Cataldo, Mary McNamara, Paddy Egan and Martin Egan.
She is survived by her devoted children, Sheila McLaughlin of Woburn, Patrick McLaughlin and his wife Cynthia of Medway, Brendan McLaughlin and his wife Nicole of Stoneham. She was the loving grandmother of Bridget and Jack McLaughlin. Further survived by many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Friday, January 23rd, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 11:30 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Bridget's memory to ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
