Betty Zane Handley Johnson, 86, of LaFayette, Georgia, formerly of Fitzgerald, died Friday, January 16, 2026, at Cypress Pond in Tifton, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 3 PM, Monday, January 19, 2026, at The Paulk Funeral Home chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Bradley Floyd officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Johnson was born October 31, 1939, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Jimmy Handley and the late Louise Melvin Handley Surratt. She was a 1957 graduate of Fitzgerald High School where she was a cheerleader and a standout basketball player. She worked in customer service for National Bank, C & S Bank and Nations Bank and later worked in crop insurance with Raymond Braddy and Wayne Smith. She also worked at Home Depot in Cordele. Mrs. Johnson was very active and enjoyed doing yardwork and being on the water when she lived on Lake Blackshear.
She is survived by her sons: Scott & Sandy Revell of Fitzgerald and Jad & Allison Johnson of LaFayette; grandchildren: Chuck & Becky Louthan, Blake & Emily Revell, Millie Johnson, and J.B. Johnson; great-grandchildren: Drew Louthan, Matthew Louthan, Anna Claire Louthan, and Millie Louthan; a brother, Damon Handley of Steamboat Springs, Colorado; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Baskin Johnson; her daughter, Robin Lynn Revell; a brother, Jim Handley; and two sisters: Arbadella Cooksey and JoAnn Owens.
