Worcester – Madeleine A. Longval, 89 of Worcester, died in the presence of her loving family, on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 in Homestead Hall after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Madeleine was the oldest daughter of Clarence and Florence (Small) Longval. She leaves her three siblings Adrienne M. Daly, Lauraine Y. Laurence, and Andre L. Longval (Cindi). She is predeceased by her brothers-in-laws, Gerard Laurence and John Daly. She leaves 9 nieces and nephews and thirteen grandnieces and nephews.

Madeleine graduated from Commerce High School in 1954. She started her career as secretary at George F. Blake in Worcester. She was a woman before her time working in the computer industry at Telecron / GE in Worcester and Ashland, then went onto Honeywell. After retiring from Honeywell, she moved from Ashland to Shrewsbury.

For several years she was a regular participant in her church choirs carrying on the family music traditions. She was a member of the Worcester Skating Club and performed with the Worcester County Light Opera. Some of her greatest enjoyments were spending quality time with family and friends. She maintained lifelong friends from her home parish of St. Margaret Mary’s. Her beautiful smile and classy clothes were often accented by her collection of butterfly jewelry. Butterflies will always be a reminder to her family of her hopeful outlook and deep faith.

Maddie, as she was lovingly called at Homestead Hall, where she resided since 2019, enjoyed conversations, laughter, and activities there. In recent time, Maddie was loved and cared for by the Jewish Healthcare Hospice team. The family is grateful for the good care and never-ending kind attention of all the staff.

A calling hour will be held on Wednesday, January 21 in Blessed Sacrament Church 555 Pleasant St. Worcester from 10-11am. Her funeral mass will follow at 11am in Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
