Obituary

Lawrence Frederick Mazzie, age 92, of Tewksbury, formerly of Everett, retired Everett Fire Department Deputy Chief, and Korean War Army veteran, passed away at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.

He was the beloved husband of Irene H. (Michalski) Mazzei , with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.

Born in Malden on October 20, 1933, he was the son of the late Adolph R. Mazzie and the late Regina A. (Cronin) Mazzie.

He attended local schools and graduated from Everett High School.

In 1953, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He was awarded several decorations for his active-duty service including the National Defense Service Medal, the Parachutist Badge, and the Good Conduct Medal.


In addition to his wife, surviving family members include his daughters Lorene of Wakefield, Michele of Tewksbury, son, Lawrence Jr. and his wife, Donna of Tewksbury. He is also survived by four grandchildren, one great grandson, his brother, Adolph Mazzie and his wife Joanne, one niece and three nephews.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Phyllis and Lorraine.

Calling hours are Wednesday, January 21st, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury, immediately followed by a prayer service to be held in the funeral home. Interment of his ashes will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Everett Fire Department.
