Obituary

Marilyn R. Carbone (Scutellaro) of Wakefield, formerly of Somerville passed away on January 14, 2026. She was 86 years old. Marilyn was born in Boston to the late James and Helen (Cantalupo) Scutellaro and grew up in the North End and Somerville. She was the loving wife of the late William M. “Bill” Carbone, with whom she shared 65 years of marriage.

Marilyn was a stay at home mom who was dedicated to her family. She enjoyed cooking for family, friends and neighbors. In her younger days, Marilyn would gather with her mother, sisters, sister-in-laws, and close girlfriends for card games. They would meet weekly on both Monday and Friday nights. The ladies played cards year round and only a snowy or icy night could stop them from getting together. Marilyn loved to play Bingo and it was there where she met and made many friends as well. She also enjoyed both Foxwoods and Encore Casino and an occasional trip to Las Vegas.

Marilyn loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They brought her great joy and happiness.

She adored and loved all her nieces, nephews and her special bond with her twin sister, Marie. Marilyn was a caring and loyal person to everyone she met especially her sister-in-law, Carol Mahoney and longtime girlfriends Vita Solimine and Barbara Campbell.

Marilyn will be sadly missed by all family, friends and neighbors.

Marilyn was the devoted mother of Maureen O'Brien and her husband Mark of Wakefield, Anthony Carbone and his wife Paula of Stoneham and James Carbone of Newport News, VA. She was the adored grandmother of Mark and Billy O’Brien, Jamie and Anthony Carbone, Tyler O’Brien, Michael Carbone, Devin O’Brien and Kyle Carbone and the loving great-grandmother of Riley, Liam and Jaclyn O'Brien and Jameson Carbone.
