Obituary

Worcester – Leokadia (Paszt) Wyka passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026 at the age of 97, surrounded by her loving family at St. Vincent Hospital. She was the beloved daughter of the late Katarzyna (Metzgier Paszt) Berlin and the late Jan Paszt.

Leokadia was predeceased by her devoted husband of 49 years, Jan Wyka, who passed away in 1994. She is lovingly remembered by her son, Andrew Wyka; her daughters, Krystyna Szymczak (Zenon), Genevieve Sobiech (late Thaddeus), and Stasia Janczewski (Michal); her sister, Helen Blake (Ronald); and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Leokadia is predeceased by two sisters, Maria Votruba and Stella Nowak and a brother, Edward Paszt.

She was a devoted and loving grandmother to Thaddeus, Diane, James, Erik, Julie and Felicity; and a cherished great-grandmother to Anthony, Veronica, Evan, Ryan, Ethan, Ashley, Chloe and Colton. Leokadia took immense pride in her growing family and found her greatest joy in time spent together, creating memories that will be treasured for generations to come.

A woman of deep faith, Leokadia was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church and an active member of the Women’s Guild, where her faith and sense of community were deeply expressed. She found great joy in hosting family gatherings, welcoming everyone to a table filled with traditional Polish meals and homemade baked goods. She lovingly sewed clothes for her children and grandchildren and crocheted afghans for family members, each one a lasting symbol of her care., warmth and generosity.

A funeral mass will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026 at 10:30 AM in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church 34 Ward St. Worcester. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 18, from 4 to 6 PM in the Alfred Roy & Sons – Henry Funeral Service Memorial Chapel 33 Ward St. Worcester. A private burial will take place in Notre Dame Cemetery at a later date.
