Carlos D. Castro, 59, of Wareham died Wednesday September 6, 2006 at Tobey Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, he lived in New Bedford and Wareham for most of his life.
Mr. Castro was formerly employed as a merchant seaman for Exxon Mobil Corporation, until his retirement in 1998 due to an injury.
He is survived by his wife and loving companion of 32 years, Caroline L. (Soares) Castro; his mother, Eva DaLomba of Brava; his sisters-in-law, Mary Costa and her husband Raymond, Eugenia Lopes and her husband Joao, Dolores Pires and her husband Manuel, Anita Soares, and Doreen Silva; his brothers-in-law, Manuel Soares and his wife Sandra, and Michael Soares; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; and a son Scott Pires.
He was the son of the late Ambrosio Castro.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 9 AM in Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
