Obituary

Judith (“Judy”) Dorney, age 83, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family.

Judy was a woman of remarkable determination, perseverance, and quiet strength. Though she was legally blind, she never allowed that challenge to define or limit her. Instead, she met life with courage, grace, and an unwavering openness to new experiences. She loved meeting new people, welcoming conversation, and embracing each opportunity placed before her.

She was a devoted and loving mother to her two children: her daughter, LeeAnn, and her husband Joseph Cerretani, and her son, Robert Dorney, and his wife Susan. Judy was a proud and deeply loving grandmother to Courtney (27), Kyle Cerretani (24), Marissa Dorney (20), and Shea Dorney (18), each of whom brought her immense joy.

Judy was married for 47 years to her beloved husband, Robert Dorney, who predeceased her. Their marriage was a partnership built on love, faith, and shared adventure, and his loss was one she carried with quiet dignity.

A lifelong learner, Judy attended Catholic schools during her primary education and was a proud graduate of Stonehill College. She dedicated her professional life to service as a social worker with the Commission for the Blind, where she worked tirelessly and compassionately on behalf of her clients, advocating for independence, dignity, and opportunity for others facing visual impairment.

In retirement, Judy cherished traveling with her husband and deepening her involvement in her faith community. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Mary’s Parish in Mansfield, where she faithfully managed the Alter Society Ministry, offering her time and talents in service to others.

Above all, Judy will be remembered for her kindness, thoughtfulness, and loving heart. She had a way of making others feel seen, valued, and understood. Her resilience, generosity of spirit, and steadfast faith leave a lasting legacy in the lives of all who knew her.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
