Annette “Chubby” (Meola) Petruzzelli, 96, passed away peacefully at her home in Medford, in the company of her loving daughters, on Saturday, January 10th. The youngest and last surviving of seven children, Annette was raised in Boston’s North End, daughter of the late Vincent and Nunzia (Tirone) Meola.
Annette’s life was defined by her family and her faith, and for more than 40 years she could be found occupying the same seat, in the same pew, at the Saturday mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church, where she also served as a Eucharistic Minister. Annette was known for her love of gardening, and when she was not amongst her family, there was nowhere she would rather be than in her garden of meticulously curated plants and hardscapes. Annette was a source of friendship, compassion, humor, and love to all those fortunate enough to have been in her life.
Annette was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Petruzzelli, and the devoted mother of Donna Greene and her husband Michael, Diane Horrigan and her husband William, and the late Janet Petruzzelli. She was the loving Nonnie to Janet Brandano, and Albert Brandano and his wife Michelle, and the adoring Great-Nonnie to Georgina Annette Brandano. Annette is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews who were fixtures in her daily life.
Visiting hours will be held in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Friday, January 16th from 4 to 8 PM, and again on Saturday, January 17th at 9 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at St. Michael Cemetery, Boston.
