
Joyce B. (Jeffers) Moore

Joyce B. (Jeffers) Moore, 94, of Anderson passed away peacefully from a broken heart on her birthday January 9, 2026 one month after her husband, Robert Moore passed away.
She was born on January 9, 1932 in Anderson, IN to Albert and Ellen Jeffers. She graduated from Anderson High School.
She worked at General Motors as an adult to put herself through Ball State University to be a grade school teacher. She graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors. She became a second grade school teacher at Summitville Elementary where she specialized in reading. She worked there for 20 years and retired in 1991.
Following her retirement, Bob and Joyce, were snowbirds in Mission, Texas for 30 years. They enjoyed all kinds of dancing, including square-dancing. They had many friends all over the country consequently. Bob and Joyce were truly devoted to each other and family. They were married for 77 years as of July.
She was a member of Chesterfield Christian Church and was very active in church. She and her husband, Bob, were Highland High School band boosters where they headed up the band camps and volunteers for several years. She was an avid quilter. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Red Bud Quilting Quild. She won many awards for her quilts over the years. She was a wonderful seamstress who enjoyed sewing and knitting. She baked wedding, birthday and anniversary cakes for family and friends over the years.
She is survived by her two daughters, Anita Moore (Joe) McCabe of Indianapolis and Jennifer (Danny) Waymire of Anderson; four grandchildren, Sheri Elaine (Maurice Blanc) Embree of Paris, France, Todd Embree of Indianapolis, Renee Pierce of Campbell, MN, and Sara Waymire of Anderson; two great-grandchildren, Josh Pierce and Jesse Embree; a brother, Gene Jeffers of Englewood, FL; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Jeffers; mother and stepfather, Ellen and Charles Brown; her husband of 77 years, Robert Eugene Moore; a son, Robert Charles Moore; a brother, Oliver Jeffers and two sisters, Naomi Dunn and Mary Ellen Ray.
A graveside service will take place at 1:00pm on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at Bronnenberg Cemetery in Chesterfield, IN with Ned Clark officiating.
Memorial contributions may be given to Chesterfield Christian Church or Parkinson’s Foundation.
