Jeffrey Edgar Smith of Medford, MA, was born in West Medford, MA, on September 8, 1960, to Edgar and Katherine Smith. Jeff passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mabel L. Jones. Jeffrey was raised and educated in Medford, MA. In high school, he played basketball and won many trophies. He went on to earn an Associate in Science from Bunker Hill Community College and a Master of Arts from Leslie University in Cambridge, MA.
Jeffrey loved the Lord. He read his Bible daily and prayed not only for himself but also for others. Jeffrey became a deacon at West Medford Baptist Church, where he visited the sick, prayed with them, and administered communion. Jeffrey was a loving brother, a good friend, always a shoulder to cry on, and he had a listening ear. Jeff was also kind. From time to time, he would visit the West Medford Community Center and purchase pizzas for all the seniors.
Jeff leaves behind his sisters, Marilyn Smith from Medford, MA, and Karen Gumbs from Anguilla, BWI; his nephews and one niece, Joshua Smith, Robert Jones, and Trinnice Jones; and his great-nephews, Tristan Jones and Maxwell Jones, along with a host of cousins and friends. He will be truly missed.
His funeral service will be celebrated in the West Medford Baptist Church, 59 Boston Avenue, Medford on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Noon. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visitation will be held in the church, prior to the service, from 10 to Noon. Interment will be privately held. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home of Medford.
