Obituary

CHARLES PRESTON TYLER, JR., a lifelong resident of Medford, passed away at the Brentwood Rehabilitation Center in Danvers, Massachusetts, following a lengthy illness, on Sunday evening, December 28, 2025. He was 58 years old.

Born in Stoneham, Massachusetts, on September 4, 1967, Charles was the beloved son of Jo Ann (Drucilla) Tyler and the late Charles P. Tyler, Sr. Charles was employed as a Master Printer for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, listening to music and eating his Chicken Parm. He was also an avid sports fan, always rooting for the local Boston sports teams. Charles loved cats and celebrated his beloved feline companions Smokie and Bandit who preceded him in death. Known as “CT” or “Chucky” to many, Charles will be dearly missed.

Besides his beloved mother, Jo Ann, he is survived by his loving sister Deanna M. De Leon of Long Beach, California; his surrogate sister Wendy E. Waithe and her significant other Edward E. Johnson Jr., of Medford; Uncle Erroll Tyler of Melrose; Aunt Jean Hill of Pembroke Pines, FL; close cousin Kip Diggs; close friend Kenny Eaglan of Woburn; and a host of cousins, friends and associates.

Charles' funeral service will be celebrated in the Shiloh Baptist Church, 1 Holton Streeet, Medford on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 1:30 PM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visitation will be held in the church, prior to the service, from Noon to 1:30 PM. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home of Medford.
