Obituary

Warren W. Orr, of Winchester, MA, died peacefully on December 31, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on April 18, 1940, in Bath, ME, to Arthur C. and Gladys (Deering) Orr, he grew up there alongside his sisters Janice (Kate) Allair and Karin Ponomarenko. He graduated from Morse High School in 1958 and proudly served in the United States Air Force as a Chinese translator in the Far East from 1959 to 1962.

Warren later settled in Massachusetts, where he built a career in banking services, navigating the evolving landscape of the industry through multiple companies and mergers. A devoted member of the Winchester Unitarian Society, he was an enthusiastic traveler who explored destinations across the United States and around the world with his dear housemates and close friends Richard Hochman and Willson Gray. Warren cherished time spent with friends, whether playing board games, cheering on the Red Sox, delving into historical events, or learning about diverse cultures.

In recent years, even as his health declined, Warren maintained his characteristically positive outlook and treasured visits from members of his congregation. Warren was predeceased by his parents, a brother Wesley R. who died in infancy, his sister Karin, and brothers-in-law Boris (Jake) Ponomarenko and Robert W. Allair. He leaves behind his sister Kate, numerous nieces and nephews, and many close and devoted friends who will miss him dearly.

A ceremony of interment with military honors will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at the Evergreen Cemetery, 1137 N. Broad St, Hillside, New Jersey. Friends are welcome to attend.
