STANDISH- Richard “Dick” Cyril Green, age 86, peacefully passed away on January 3, 2026, at his home in Standish, Maine, surrounded by family.
Born on June 27, 1939, in Woburn, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Cyril and Marion Green. After graduating from Gorham High School in 1957, he pursued a degree in Machine Tool Technology from Southern Maine Community College.
Dick began his career as a machinist in Massachusetts and New Hampshire before returning to Maine. He spent many years at General Electric as a Manufacturing Supervisor and later in the purchasing department. He then partnered with his longtime friend Bill Ciccerone to open “60 Minute Photo” in South Portland. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to build nine custom homes and lovingly renovate his historic 1850 farmhouse in Standish.
Following Hurricane Hugo on November 5, 1989, Dick and his dear friend John Burke Sr. spent two months in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, providing hurricane relief and rebuilding homes, demonstrating his commitment to community service.
A man of many talents, Dick enjoyed woodworking, clockmaking, and flying. He became a private pilot in the 1970s and owned several planes, including his favorite, a yellow Piper Cub known as "Tweety." Alongside his late friend Richard Randall, he had countless adventures across Maine and beyond.
With his charm and good looks, Dick was well-loved by all. He is survived by his former wife, Patricia Dennett, and children Rick Green Jr. and his wife Julie of Scarborough, ME, and Debbie Green Oddy and her fiancé John Burke of Standish, ME/Cape Coral, Florida.
