Stanley F. Ratay, 84, a lifelong resident of Derry, NH, died Wednesday, September 6, 2006 in the Oxford Manor, Haverhill, MA. Mr. Ratay was born in Derry on August 5, 1922, a son of the late Andrew and Anna (Szot) Ratay. He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of WWII. He worked for several shoe shops in the Derry area and also as a janitor for the Derry Schools and at The Indian Head Bank of Derry. He was a member of the American Legion Post #9 and a communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, both of Derry. He also was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by a brother, John Ratay of Hollywood, FL, three nephews and a niece. He was predeceased by his wife Phyllis E. (Trombley) Ratay in 1981 and his sisters Josephine M. Ratay and Lillian M. Mulrennan.
Visiting hours were held from 6-8pm, Friday, September 8, 2006 in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday at 10 AM in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave., Derry. The burial followed in Forest Hill Cemetery, Derry.
