
LIMERICK- Gerard “Jerry” Cote, age 80, Parishioner of Saint Matthews Church, passed away peacefully at his home in Limerick.
Jerry was born on Feb. 28, 1945 in Saint-Fortunat, Quebec to parents Eddie and Eva Cote. He attended Limerick Public School K-12 on Washington Street, Limerick Maine and graduated class of 1963.
After graduation, Jerry started dating Jackalyn Newell. They married May 4, 1968 and were happily married for 57 years.
Since the age of 18, Jerry worked at FR Carroll Inc. in any department that needed his help. He retired in Dec. of 2015. Along side working at FR Carroll, Jerry volunteered at St. Matthew’s Parish, a life long member of the Knights of Columbus, the local 4-H Baby Beef Club, Ossipee Valley Fair Committee and Acton Fair Calf Scramble and Auction.
Being a “true farmer at heart”, Jerry’s life passion was haying, riding his beloved John Deer Tractors around the town of Limerick and caring for his cattle.
Jerry is predeceased by his parents Eddie and Eva (paradis) Cote, brothers; Maurice and David Cote and grandson Sawyer Lair Cote.
He is survived by his loving wife Jackalyn “Jackie” Cote, son Duane Cote and his wife Becky, daughter Julie (Cote) Gilpatrick and her husband Mike, grandchildren Ella Lair Cote, Matthew Johnson and his wife McKenna, Kylie Johnson, Malcolm Gilpatrick, great grandchildren Jolie & Weston Johnson, Adyson Lessard, sister Dianne Muller, and nieces Petrina and Briana Muller, Sue Nickerson and Judy Granville.
In lieu of flowers, in Jerry’s memory, please do in an act of kindness for someone in need, as Jerry was very well known for that.
A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday January 17, 2026, at 10 am at Saint Matthew’s Catholic Church, 19 Dora Lane, Limerick, Maine. Following the Mass a luncheon will occur in the downstairs of Saint Matthew’s Church. ??
