Obituary

Dorothy F. (Travers) Lawver, age 90, a resident of Tewksbury for the past 11 years, formerly of Medford, Somerville and Cambridge, passed away at her home in the care of her family and hospice on Thursday, December 25, 2025.

She was the beloved wife of Wayne L. Lawver, who passed away on September 20, 2011.

Born in Cambridge on September 26, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Madeline (Tranto) Travers.

Dorothy was raised in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge Ringe High School.

Prior to retiring, she was employed as a loan officer by Tufts University.

Dorothy enjoyed square dancing, cooking with her grandchildren, crocheting, and traveling with her late husband to Aruba.

She is survived by her three children, Nancy J. Mader and her husband Stephen, of Pooler, GA, Wayne A. Lawver and his wife Susan, of Haverhill, and Susan E. Lawver, of Malden: her grandchildren include Stephen, Jr., Christopher, Alexandra, Cassidy, Wayne, Jr., and Ronnie, and several great grandchildren.
Her siblings include, John “Jack” Travers, of New Bern, NC, Elaine Albertelli, of Merrimack, NH, and the late Mary Travers Chevalier.
She leaves many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Calling hours are Saturday, January 3, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury, followed by her funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main Street, Route 38, Tewksbury. Services will conclude at Mount Auburn Cemetery, 508 Mount Auburn Street, Cambridge.
