
SPRINGFIELD – Mary F. (Fahey) Magiera, 74, of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield was Called Safely Home on Monday, December 29, 2025. She passed peacefully into Eternal Life surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Springfield on June 4, 1951, a daughter of the late John S. and Eileen (O'Connor) Fahey. She was raised in Springfield, graduated from Cathedral High School, and was a lifelong resident of the city. She furthered her education and received her Associate's Degree in Business from American International College in Springfield. She was employed at Friendly's Ice Cream Corporation in Wilbraham in the Accounting Department for over 30 years and retired around 2013. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield. Mary was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 430 in Springfield. She was also involved with Massachusetts Girls State for over 50 years. In her leisure time, she enjoyed needlework, quilting, and ceramics. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and many friends. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Kenneth S. Magiera. They were married at Sacred Heart Church in Springfield on August 16, 1986 and were blessed with over 39 years of happiness together. She also leaves her loving and devoted daughter, Kyleen O. Sidwell and her husband, Bryan, of East Providence, RI; her cherished granddaughter, Ellie Grace Sidwell; her two dear brothers, George Fahey and his wife, Gayle, and James Fahey and his wife, Mary Ann, all of Westfield; her dear brother-in-law, Rudolph Magiera and his wife, Louise, of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and extended family members. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her dear brother, John "Jack" Fahey and his wife, Cecilia. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend a Liturgy of Christian Burial on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 9:15 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. Her Committal Service will follow the Mass at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001.
