Obituary



Anna (Giovannucci) Casasanta passed away peacefully at home on Christmas Day. She was 82. Born and raised in Sulmona, Abruzzo, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Michele and Maria (Tiriticco) Giovannucci.

Anna came from Sulmona to the United States as a young woman in 1958. Her family lived in Roxbury, Dorchester and Hyde Park before settling in Medford where she married Domenico and raised their children. Anna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. In her younger years, she worked in the clothing industry. She later managed the GNC store in Medford’s Meadow Glen Mall for 25 years. She also managed the Piercing Pagoda there. She was known for her baking skills, especially for turning out delicious cookies. She enjoyed shopping and also enjoyed an active social life with Dom.

The beloved wife of Domenico Casasanta, Anna was a devoted mother to Rino Casasanta and his wife Carolyn and Marianne Grise and her husband Steven. She was a loving grandmother to Evan, Logan and Cole. Anna was a dear sister to Carmela Cain and her husband Robert and to Marcello Giovannucci.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St. Medford on Tuesday, December 30th from 4 thru 8 and Again on Wednesday December 31st at 10 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 11 AM. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made in Anna’s name to the Massachusetts chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
