Obituary

Stephen P. Lacouture, 63, of Brockton died Thursday December 25, 2025 at home. Steve’s family takes special comfort in knowing that he was called home to be with the Lord on Christmas Day.

Born on December 9, 1962 he was a son of the late Emile V. “Chuck” Lacouture and Rita M. (Bessette) Lacouture. Steve was a lifelong resident of Brockton and attended Sacred Heart School and Brockton High School. In his younger years Steve worked as a laborer for local construction companies. Steve went on to work as a technician in the Heating Ventilation and Air Condition (HVAC) trade, working notably with his brother James and lifelong friends John Pauze, Jerry Gardina, and the late Larry LaMonica for many years before retiring.

The soundtrack of Steve’s life was the heavy metal music of the 1970s and 80s. As a young man Steve was always game to undertake a new project or embark on a wild and crazy adventure, usually to parts unknown, all with Led Zeppelin, KISS, ZZ Top, Metallica or Kid Rock blasting in the background. Steve had his own individual sense of fun and wonderment and he really remained a “kid at heart” throughout life. Many of Steve’s unique trademark expressions elicited upon the various predicaments life has to offer, especially as regards his work and life in general, would bring forth roaring laughter from friends and coworkers alike. Steve sure came out with some doozies over the years!

Steve was a staunch Boston Bruins fan. Steve found solace in nature and enjoyed his time in the outdoors fishing at many area lakes and parks with a cold Pepsi handy at his side or just sitting by the campfire while enjoying a summer evening.

Steve will be remembered for his kind-hearted ways and his ability to throw up his hands and laugh at himself. He was always willing to help and lend a hand to anyone in need, no questions asked. Steve truly loved and cherished his relationships with his family and friends. No matter the peaks and valleys, nor the storms or curveballs that life threw at him, Steve lived by his own personal motto, really his own creed – “Hey, that’s life” – “C’est la vie” as his French-speaking parents and aunts and uncles would say! Steve’s translation: “You just gotta take the good with the bad and keep right on trucking!”

Steve is survived by his daughter Elizabeth Gill of Raynham and his grandchildren, Cameron and Ava Gill. Steve’s favorite role in life was being a Pepere to his grandson Cameron – Steve loved Cameron beyond words. Steve was the brother of Joseph E. Lacouture and his wife Paula of Brockton, Emilie J. Lacouture of Holbrook, Philip E. Lacouture and his wife Dona of Brockton, William H. Lacouture and his wife Sherrie of Bridgewater, Agnes Messina and her husband Ross of Bridgton, ME, Anne M. Lacouture-Bailey, MD and her late husband John Bailey (who passed away in 2020) of Ft. Myers, FL. and his twin brother James P. Lacouture of Brockton with whom Steve shared a special fraternal bond. Steve is also survived by his daughter Elizabeth’s mother Tina Gill and his former companion and close friend of many years Rosa Mello. Steve was the brother of the late John M. “Jean” Lacouture who passed away in 2004 and the late MaryEllen Leonard who passed away in 2023. Steve was the brother-in-law of Gary E. Leonard, Sr. of Brockton and is also survived by his extended family of many nieces, nephews and cousins and friends.

Everyone is welcome to gather to honor and remember Steve at calling hours on Tuesday December 30th from 3:00-6:00 pm at Funerarias Multi Culturel Funeral Home, 238 Court St. Brockton. A Prayer Service and Words of Remembrance will be held at 6:00pm.

Steve will be laid to rest alongside his beloved mom and dad Chuck and Rita in the family lot at Calvary Cemetery in a private service.
