Obituary

Margaret M. MacLellan, age 52, formerly of Tewksbury, a longtime resident of the Belvidere area of Lowell and member of a well-known greater Lowell family, passed away at her home on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

She was the devoted mother of Ann C. Rizos, Caroline C. Rizos, and William T. Rizos, all of Lowell.

Born in Lowell on August 23, 1973, she was the daughter of Ann M. (Furtado) Maclellan, of Andover and the late John G. MacLellan, Jr.

Margaret was raised in Tewksbury and graduated from the Academy of Notre Dame in Tyngsborough with the Class of 1991. Following high school, she attended Merrimack College, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in 1995.

Margaret was a stay-at-home mom who devoted her life to raising her three much loved children.

She enjoyed many activities including cooking and fitness. Margaret was an avid runner, cyclist and triathlete. In addition, she loved horseback riding, days spent at the beach in Harwich Port and leisurely walks with her children at the Philips Academy Bird Sanctuary in Andover.

In addition to her children and mother, she is survived by four brothers, John G. MacLellan, III and his wife Marie, of Chelmsford, Richard J. MacLellan, of Andover, Peter A. MacLellan, of Wilton, NH and Alexander D. MacLellan and his wife Nicole, of North Andover. She is the sister of Katherine A. Davidson and her husband Kevin, of Nantucket, Susan T. McAlary and her husband Kevin, of Amherst, NH, Nora J. Labadini and her husband Robert, of Westford, Christine M. Fiesel and her husband James, of Wilton, CT, Elizabeth M. MacLellan, of Lowell, Maryann F. Wheeler and her husband William, of Tewksbury, Ann Marie M. MacLellan, of Harwich Port, Mollie M. Clarke and her husband Christopher, of Yardley, PA, Jennifer M. Lindberg and her husband Eric, of Bedford, NH, and the late Jacqueline M. Legein.

She was the former wife of the late William S. Rizos

Margaret leaves numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.

All are invited to attend her Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Monday, December 29, 2025 at 10 a.m. at St. Michaels Church, 196 Main Street, North Andover, MA. Those attending are asked to meet at church. Services will conclude with interment at Tewksbury Cemetery, 172 East Street, Tewksbury. At the request of her children, there are No Calling Hours.
