Obituary

Kim E. Shore, age 55, of Winchester, passed away on December 11, 2025, lovingly surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Andrew C. Nicholas.

Born in Danvers, Kim was the daughter of Douglas and Eileen C. (Morin) Shore. She was raised and educated in Newport, RI, and was a graduate of Rogers High School. Two of her most prominent activities during this time were sailing and showing horses. She then received her Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1991.

Kim and Andy met at RPI and were both subsequently employed by Procter & Gamble. Their dual careers took them from Tunkhannock, PA, to Cape Girardeau, MO, to Loveland, OH, and finally to Winchester in 2010.

Over Kim’s 32-year career with P&G, she was a technical engineer, an engineering manager and global capital finance manager across the Bounty, Charmin and Gillette businesses. Her biggest accomplishments include 5 patents in papermaking technology, construction of a new manufacturing plant in Box Elder, UT, and overseeing over $1B in Gillette global capital projects. Most importantly, as a female leader in engineering, Kim was a role model and mentor for many, many young female engineers, and a vibrant leader for the GABLE network within P&G.

While her children grew up in Winchester, she was an active volunteer in youth soccer. Kim had an impressive range of skills beyond engineering and managing others, including piano, singing, sewing and cooking. She had recently discovered a love of baking in retirement. Many lucky bellies have been fed by Kim over the last several decades. Her favorite pastimes in addition to cooking were traveling, skiing, board & card games, painting, puzzles and Legos. Her Happy Place was at her ski house in Newry, ME, where there is now an abundance of great memories of Kim sharing all these activities with many friends and family.

In addition to her husband, Andy, and parents, Doug and Eileen, Kim is survived by her children, Christopher and Amelia Nicholas, sisters Tammy Shore and Jill Petrone, brother-in-law, Scott Nicholas and sister-in-law, Cynthia Tantum, nieces, Summer and Lucy Milsky, Sarah and Julia Tantum, and nephew, Billy Petrone.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the following are options for donations in Kim’s memory: An endowed scholarship for a female STEM student at RPI Shore-Nicholas Scholarship, the Bethel Area Food Pantry, where Kim volunteered and planned to return bethelareafoodpantry.org, Care Dimensions: Kaplan Family Hospice House, an amazing place where Kim spent her final days and was happy to call it HOME. caredimensions.org.
