Obituary

Joseph “Joe” J. LaVoie, 58 of Nashua, NH died Monday December 22, 2025 at Elliot Hospital in Manchester following injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Joe was born in Lawrence, MA on October 18, 1967, a son of Alfred LaVoie and the late Gladys (Giblin) LaVoie. He had resided in Nashua since 2013, formerly living in Derry, NH for 20 years.

Joe grew up in Lawrence, MA, where he met his wife Laura during high school. They spent the first years of their married life in Lawrence, eventually moving to Methuen, then Derry, NH to provide better opportunities for their two children. Joe worked for US Foods as a truck driver for many years, then transitioned to the maintenance department in order to spend more time with family.

Joe was a man who knew how to live with passion and adventure. He found freedom and joy on the road while riding his Can-Am Spyder, whether solo or alongside his wife. Some of his happiest memories were from their tropical vacations, where he had a chance to unwind and share moments that will forever stay in their hearts.

But what brought him the most happiness was spending time with his family, especially his nine grandchildren. His laughter was always the loudest and his love, unwavering. He knew how to be a friend, a playmate, and a grandfather figure to each of them. There were many days spent jumping in the pool or sledding down the hill (in summer and winter!). They never questioned his love as his face would light up the second he saw them coming up the walkway.

In addition to his father of Lawrence, MA, he is survived by his wife of 40 years, Laura J. (McDermott) LaVoie of Nashua, one son, Joseph J. LaVoie, Jr. and his wife Cara of Candia, NH, one daughter, Heather McMillan and her husband Bryan of Derry, NH, nine grandchildren, Lucas, Logan, Jaylee, Vivianna, Noah, Danilynn, Benjamin, Bryarleigh, and Samuel, one brother, Robert LaVoie of Lawrence, two nieces, Katelyne and Courtney, and one nephew, Brandon. In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by his brother, Paul LaVoie.

Calling hours will be held on Friday December 26, 2025 from 4 – 7pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, NH with cremation to follow.
