PAXTON-Robert V. “Bob” Counihan, 81, of Paxton, died Sunday, September 3rd in Life Care Center of Auburn. He leaves his wife of 59 years, Lillian A. (Morse) Counihan, a son, Robert J. Counihan of Brewster, NY, a daughter, Catherine T., wife of David Polewarczyk of Sterling and his granddaughter Amy M. Polewarczyk. 4 brothers, James, Edward, Timothy and John Counihan and 3 sisters Elizabeth Salmon, Barbara Swisher and Rita Keslof predeceased him.
He was born in Worcester the son Timothy and Catherine (Murphy) Counihan. Mr. Counihan was a Navy veteran serving in World War II. He worked for the Worcester Police Department as a patrolman and later with the license board until his retirement in 1978. Mr. Counihan was a member of St. Columba Church, the Worcester County Retired Police & Firefighters Association and the Massachusetts Police Association.
The funeral is Thursday, September 7th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10 AM in St. Columba Church, 18 Richards Avenue, Paxton. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park. Calling hours are Wednesday, September 6th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
