Obituary

Ruth C. Fitzpatrick, 59

Dateline: Norton, MA

Ruth C. (Carlevale) Fitzpatrick, age 59, of Norton, formerly of Mansfield and Norwood, passed away peacefully, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday, December 21, 2025.

Born in Boston, MA on September 15, 1966, she was the loving daughter of Ruth C. (Hurley) Kamens of Norton, the late Kenneth G. Kamens, and the late Louis R. and Therese Carlevale.

Ruth grew up in Norwood, where she attended Prescott School, Junior High South and graduated with the Class of 1985 at Norwood High School. She enjoyed a happy childhood filled with loving friendships and many adventures, including traveling and living in Vermont, Hawaii and Miami.

She later moved to Mansfield where she reconnected with one of her teenage friends and married him. Ruth and Michael Fitzpatrick were truly two peas in a pod. Together, they welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world, Jillian.

Ruth was a devoted and loving mother. She found her greatest joy in simple, beautiful moments with Jillian- especially her cherished trips to the beaches of Cape Cod, where Ruth felt most at piece. She loved watching her baby girl grow into the strong, beautiful woman she became and often said that Jillian was her greatest achievement and her best friend.

Ruth loved family parties and took special joy in making sure everyone felt happy, included and loved. She had a passion for decorating her home, especially for the holidays, creating warm and welcoming spaces for all who gathered there.

With a warm heart and a generous spirit, Ruth dedicated many years to serving others as an Activities Coordinator at Fox Hill Assisted Living in Westwood. She brought comfort, laughter and companionship to the elderly residents she worked with, treating each person with dignity and kindness.

Ruth’s smile could light up a room. She had a way of making people feel seen and welcomed, and her presence brightened the lives of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and loving remembered.

In addition to her daughter and mother, she is survived by her devoted sisters, Cheryl Bastien and her husband Roger of Norton, Lori Civitarese and her husband Thomas of Foxborough, Paula Kavanaugh and her longtime companion Richard Kirkland of Uxbridge, Ann Bebyn and her husband David of Bellingham and Marcel Coutu and her husband Lois of Bellingham. She was the longtime friend of Paul Kavanaugh of Wrentham. She was the treasured aunt of Leanne McCormick, Stuart Scipione and his wife Emalie, Anna Civitarese and her husband Guillermo Ronquillo, Joseph Civitarese and his wife Shawna, Ian Kavanaugh and Ceili Cavanagh. She is also survived by her much-loved grandnephews, Logan McCormick, Cayden McCormick and Mason McCormick. She was the former wife of the late husband Michael Fitzpatrick.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, December 26th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.
