Francis L. “Fran” Giudice, 78 of Medford died Monday at home after a long illness.
Born in Boston, he lived in Medford all his life and was the son of the late Emma (Delmonte) and Frank Giudice. Mr. Giudice was the former owner of the Delmonte Restaurant in Andover and also was a Manager at the Kings Grant in Danvers and the former Memory Lane in Somerville. Fran played ball with the Wareham Gateman for the Cape Cod Baseball League, and then played with the University of Maryland where he was drafted to the St. Louis Browns and then to the AAA in Baltimore. He also was a soft ball coach for many years in Somerville. Fran served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1952.
Beloved husband of Ruth (Hayes) Giudice. Devoted father of Joseph Avenell and his wife Joanne of Somerville, Robert Avenell of Hingham, Rita Coiro and her husband Ronald, Richard Avenell and his wife Loretta all of Medford. Also survived by 10 loving grandchildren. Cherished son of the late Emma (Delmonte) and Frank Giudice. Brother of the late Ronald Giudice. Uncle of Lauren Giudice and the late Ronald Giudice Jr.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Thursday at 10 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford, at 11 AM.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
Visiting hours Wednesday 4 - 8.
Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
