Richard Dippel
Retired NYPD and JPMorgan Chase

SALEM, NH: Richard Dippel, age 88, resident of Salem, NH for the past 5 years, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at the Grace House in Windham NH.

Born in Queens NY on February 3, 1937, he was the son of the late William Dippel and the late Bertha (Kropf) Dippel. Richard was raised in Ozone Park Queens New York and attended local schools.

In 1956 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served in the 5th Infantry in Germany.

Following his honorable discharge from active duty, he settled in Copiague, Long Island, New York where he lived for many years until moving with his wife to Salem, NH in 2021 to be close to family.

He was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and loyal friend.

He shared an extraordinary 66-year marriage with his beloved wife, Marilyn, filled with love, joy, commitment and two
wonderful children. His greatest joy was spending time with family, which brought him the deepest happiness. He was a proud and adored “Papa” to his four grandchildren. He treasured every moment spent with them, enthusiastically cheering at football and soccer games, track meets, attending dance recitals, graduations, and other meaningful milestones in their lives.

A cherished friend to many, especially “The Crowd,” he valued lifelong friendships built on loyalty, humor, and caring.

He dedicated over 20 years of distinguished service to the New York City Police Department. He earned a BS in Criminal Justice from the New York Institute of Technology in 1977. After retiring as a Sergeant with the NYPD, he moved onto a second career in banking as a fraud investigator retiring as an AVP with JPMorgan Chase.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother William Dippel and sister Lorraine Redmond.

Richard is survived by his wife Marilyn Dippel, son Gregg Dippel and wife Beth; daughter Colette Gencorelli and husband Joseph; grandchildren; Brittany Dippel and husband Dinesh Costlow, Ryan Dippel, Christine Schlegel and husband Keenan, Michelle LaBastie and husband Austin, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Richard will be remembered for his profound love, quiet strength, and the joy he brought to those around him.

Calling hours are Monday December 22nd from 9-10am at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 198 Haggetts Pond Road, Andover, MA. His Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Church.

Interment services will be at 2 p.m. at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.
