
Gerald T. “Jerry” Fagan 97, of Franklin died peacefully, Thursday December 18, after a short illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Joan (Garrity) Fagan.
Jerry was born in Boston on April 16, 1928, the son of Anastasia (Dinn) and Gerald Fagan and lived his early years in Dorchester. He attended Cathedral High School in Boston and upon graduation in 1946, enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed in Japan with the Army Signal Corps.
He married his wife Joan in 1953 and eventually moved to Franklin in 1960. Jerry was a civil engineer for several years at Stone and Webster in Boston, working on the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Plant in Plymouth MA. He then worked for the Town of Braintree Water Department, the Town of Weston Water Department and finished his career in Franklin as the Director of Public Works. He officially retired in 2011.
He enjoyed gardening, working around the house and going out to eat.
Jerry is survived by his children: Paula Stock and her husband, Paul of Foxboro; Pamela Alger and her husband, Joseph, of Franklin; Patricia Jaworski and her husband, Edward, of Norfolk; Shawn Fagan and his wife, Deanne of Putnam, CT, Petrina Fisher and her husband Jamie of Holliston, daughter-in-law Joanne Fagan, of Stoneham; and Gary Fagan of Cumberland RI. He was the father of the late Priscilla Arsenault and Scott Fagan and the brother of the late Mildred Murphy, Dorothy Fahey and Ralph Fagan.
Besides his children he leaves 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
He also leaves his sister, Bernadette O’Brien of Plymouth and Irene Fagan, his sister-in-law of Weymouth and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Tuesday, December 23 at 9:00AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St. followed by a Mass at St. Jude’s Church 86 Main Street in Norfolk, MA at 10:00AM.
Internment with military honors will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Franklin.
Calling hours will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday, December 22nd at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jerry’s name can be made to The Franklin Food Pantry or to St. Jude’s Church in Norfolk.
