
Victor Manuel Neves Marques (53) of Brockton died unexpectedly on December 12th in the city. He was the beloved husband of Maria Lucia Lopes Horta Marques of Brockton.
He was born in Órgãos, Santiago, Cabo Verde, the loving son of Francisca Cunha Neves Marques and the late Gustavo dos Reis Marques. Victor was a physical education professor in his home country of Cabo Verde. Karate was his lifelong passion; he taught karate throughout most of his adult life, won multiple competitions, and proudly represented the Cape Verde National Team both as an athlete and as a coach. Above all, Victor was a devoted family man and a loyal friend.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his three sons, Victor Waldine Horta Marques, Lucas Horta Marques, and Vidersson Hamilton Horta-Dias; his five brothers, Angelo Correia, Octavio Marques, Zeza Correia, Carlos Correia, and Rui Marques; and his four sisters, Ana Licia Correia, Eloisa Marques, Isa Marques, and Rosita Marques.
A Viewing will be held at the Home of Funerarias Multi Culturel, 238 Court Street, Brockton, on Monday, December 22nd, beginning at 9:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 163 North Cary Street, Brockton.
