Joseph Gordon Curtis, 77, of Derry, NH died Monday, September 4, 2006 at Parkland Medical Center in Derry. He was born in Lynn, MA on October 18, 1928, the son of the late Freeman D. and Ruth F. (Makant) Curtis. He was raised in the Lawrence and Lowell MA areas. He resided in Lowell for most of his adult life and moved to Derry eight years ago. Mr. Curtis was a veteran of the U.S. Army and also served in the Army Reserve for 21 years. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by Lucent Technologies for more than 32 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 9 of Derry. He and his wife enjoyed Bingo and trips to Foxwoods casino.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Regina M. (Wood) Curtis of Derry; three daughters, Deborah St. Germain of Methuen, MA, Lisa Matheric of Boca Raton, FL and Carla Fagone of Derry; a step-daughter, Nikki Hanright of Derry; seven grandchildren, Nathan, Lea and David St. Germain, Michael and Olivia Fagone and Daniel and Shannen Hanright.
There were no calling hours. Following cremation, a memorial service was held on Friday, September 8th at 11 AM in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Private burial was in the N.H. Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
