Obituary


Carmela M. Gilardi, of Medford passed away peacefully, December 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, at the Emerson Hospital in Concord. She was 86. Carmela was the beloved wife of the late Michael V. Gilardi. Born in Boston she was one of eight children of the late Calogero and Lucia (Bruno) DiPrima.

Carmela was raised and educated in Boston's North End. She worked for many years as an accounts payable administrator for Bank of America. In her leisure time she enjoyed shopping, baking for her family, crocheting, watching her gameshows on television and always enjoyed a fresh donut or two. However her greatest joy was her family and nothing made her happier than to be surrounded by those she loved especially her adored grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered for her unconditional love and devotion for her family and friends.

Carmela is lovingly survived by her son, Gregory Gilardi and his wife Donna of Shirley. She was the loving "Mimi" of Michael Gilardi and his wife Rebecca, and Samantha Gilardi and her boyfriend Mike Sharp as well great grandchildren, Aura Gilardi, Sena Gilardi, and William Cowling. She was the cherished sister of the late Mary Romano and her late husband Frank, the late Santo DiPrima and his surviving wife Priscilla of Charlestown, the late Joseph DiPrima and his late wife Helen, the late Philip DiPrima and his late wife Eleanor, the late Gerald DiPrima, Phyllis DiPrima, and Anna DiPrima. Further survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours at the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Monday, December 22nd, from 5 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, Tuesday, December 23rd, at 10 a.m. again relatives and friends are invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Carmela's memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorials Processing, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
