Mr. John W. Crossley, a longtime resident of Andover and beloved husband of Judith E. (Kaika) Crossley, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday morning, December 13, 2025. He was 77 years old.
Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on January 17, 1948, John was the cherished son of the late John F. and Marjorie A. (Boland) Crossley. He retired from a career as an Inspector for the Greater Lawrence Sanitary District.
His deep devotion and love of his wife, Judith, was the foundation of his life. He also treasured the years he spent coaching his son’s football teams and took great joy in being involved in his children’s activities. Above all, John loved being with his grandchildren. Watching them grow was one of the greatest joys of his life.
John was a man who always put others first. He showed he cared through the little things — the small acts of kindness, the steady support, and the joy he brought to the people around him. He was the person you could count on for help, for a laugh, or for one of his many well-loved stories — often told on repeat, always with the same enthusiasm. He had a natural gift for making people feel welcome, supported, and happy.
In his spare time, John enjoyed fishing, boating, and cheering on the Patriots. He was also a talented cook who loved preparing meals for family and friends, another way he showed his love and brought people together.
John will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Besides his wife of 52 years, Judith, John is survived by his loving children: Steven G. and his wife Katelyn D. Crossley of Middleton, and Erin E. Crossley of Manchester, New Hampshire. He is also survived by his siblings: Dorothy Crossley of Methuen; Geoffrey Crossley of St. Augustine, Florida; Diane and her husband Robert Ayer of Methuen; Marjorie and her husband Lawrence Disenhof of Salem, New Hampshire; Elaine and her husband Jonathan Fuller of Haverhill; and Amy and her husband Daniel Allen of Bourne, Texas. He leaves behind brothers- and sisters-in-law: John and his wife Nancy Kaika of Norwich, Connecticut, and Leonard and his wife Lorraine Kaika of Burlington, North Carolina. John was the proud grandfather of Liam, Gwendolyn, Declan, Daniel, Macie, and Gavin, and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
All services will be hosted at the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, MA. Calling hours will be Friday, December 19, 2025, from 3 to 7 PM. Funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 11am. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend.
