WEST BOYLSTON-Shirley (Stewart) Messier, 81, of 45 Lawrence Street died Monday, September 4 in UMASS Memorial Hospital. Her husband of 33 years Everett E. Messier, Sr. died in 1981. She leaves four children, Kathy F. Collis and her husband Gary of Rockaway Beach, MO, Everett E. Messier, Jr. and his wife Chong Hui of Brandon, FL, Bruce A. Messier and his wife Rose of Wilmington, NC and Dean S. Messier and his wife Susan of Sutton; a brother, Alden Stewart of Stuart, FL, eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a brother, Alan Stewart and two sisters, Pauline McCarthy and Janice Corkum.
She was born in Worcester, daughter of Ira W. and Evelyn B. (Fay) Stewart and graduated from Commerce High School. Mrs. Messier retired from Fleet Bank after working in the operations center for many years. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of West Boylston and was an active volunteer in the community.
