Hirl, Kenneth F., 79 of Pembroke, MA, passed peacefully at Pat Roche Hospice Home December 10, 2025 after a short illness. Born and raised in Milton, he is survived by his wife, Marjorie (Midge) (Sanford), his children, Catherine McCavanagh of Hingham and Christopher of Arlington, Virginia, his son-in-law Patrick McCavanagh, his daughter-in-law Tanja, and his grandchildren, Jane, Walter, Bryce, and Wilhelmine. Mr. Hirl was predeceased by his parents James C. and Mary E. Hirl, his brother James C., and his sister, Patricia M., and is survived by his sisters Marlene Matte and Loretta Barthel and his brothers, David and Robert. An Air Force veteran who worked as a crew chief on a C-130, Ken continued to work with his hands until the end, being the first call from family and friends in need of home or mechanical help. Ken worked as a letter carrier in Canton for many years, and once retired, he enjoyed spending time with his beloved grandchildren and traveling with Midge to their favorite New England destinations. Ken had a calm and steady presence, a quick wit, and a warm smile, and he was always there for anyone in need. He will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. A celebration of life will occur within the coming months.
