Obituary

Cleo Pearman Ray, 95, of Tifton died Monday, September 4, 2006, at Tift Health Care. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2006, at Eldorado Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Eddie Allen and Rev. Steve Sutton will officiate with burial to follow in Eldorado Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Melvin Thompson, Larry Stone, Darrell Abbott, Kenny Ray, Ray Wood and Randall Moore will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Grady Thompson, Sr., Cleo Stone, Willie Moore, Bob Burnette, Bobby P. Stone and Danny Thompson. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 6, 2006, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Ms. Ray was born on July 17, 1911 in Pulaski County and was the daughter of Sam Pearman and Bertha Walters Pearman, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph James Ray; four sisters, Felton Cromer, Lorene Doss, Janet Hayman and Ruth Merchant; and five brothers, Gordon Pearman, Hoke Pearman, George Pearman, Marvin Pearman and Lester Pearman. She was a homemaker and a member of Eldorado Missionary Baptist Church. She loved to sew in the winter and care for her flowers and garden in the spring. She sewed clothes, lap robes, blankets, 100 quilts and 500 hats, which she gave to people in our community.

Ms. Ray is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Samuel Ray of Tifton and Rudolph and Kay Ray of Tifton; one sister, Betty Locke of Chula; one sister-in-law, Annie Will Pearman of Tifton; one granddaughter and her husband, Keelee and Michael Foster of Tifton; and two special nieces, Louise Baker of Orlando, Florida and Martha Ray of Tifton.
