Obituary

With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved sister, Irene Roberta Curran, who left us far too soon at the age of 54 on December 8, 2025. Born on March 15, 1971, in Boston, and a lifelong resident of Melrose. Irene was the cherished daughter of John and the late Paulina Curran.

She was the beloved sister of Kimberly Curran and her late husband Amar Khelifi, Tracy (Curran) Smith and her husband Robert, Michelle Curran, and John Curran and his wife Karen. Irene’s love and warmth will continue to live on through her nieces Briana, Shauna, and Marissa; her lifelong best friend Lisa White; her devoted fur baby Falcor; and the many friends and extended family who were blessed to know her.

Irene’s life was a beautiful testament to kindness, laughter, and compassion. She had an extraordinary gift for making others feel seen and valued, whether through her radiant smile or her unwavering support. Her dedication to caring for others was evident in her long career in nursing home facilities across Melrose, Dedham, and Chelsea. Beginning as a CNA in high school, she worked tirelessly and rose to the role of office manager, always ensuring that patients received the dignity and care they deserved.

Family was the center of Irene’s world. She lovingly served as the primary advocate and caregiver for our parents and Uncle Ernie, using her medical knowledge and expertise to guide them through health challenges with grace and determination. Her devotion ensured they received the very best care, and her strength was a source of comfort to us all.
Though our hearts ache with her loss, we find solace in the countless memories we shared and the legacy she leaves behind. Irene will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her spirit lives on in the laughter, love, and kindness she gave so freely.

A Celebration of Irene’s Life will be held at A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Saturday December 20th from 2:00pm-4:00pm. A prayer service will be held at 3:30pm during the visitation. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the American Heart Association at https://www.heart.org or to any organization close to your heart
