Mr. John J. Waterworth, 80, of Dracut, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at The High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill surrounded by his loving family. The son of the late Thomas L. and Catherine J. (Pulsifer) Waterworth, he was born in Lowell on July 31, 1945, and has been an area resident all his life. John served honorably in the United States Army and earned the rank of Sergeant. John retired as an Engineer from The MITRE Corporation in Bedford where he worked from 1965 to 2013, and was a member of St. Monica Parish in Methuen, where he was a lector and a Eucharistic Minister. John was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 14725, St. Vincent De Paul Society and was a volunteer at Lowell General Hospital. He was pre-deceased by his loving wife Claire (Hamel) Waterworth, daughter; Amy Waterworth, and son; Kevin Waterworth and one brother Thomas Waterworth Jr. John is survived by his partner Cookie Maggio, three sons; John J. Waterworth Jr. and his wife Heather of Dracut, Scott Waterworth and his wife Jacqueline of Ephrata PA and Brian Waterworth and his wife Lisa of Tewksbury. His two sisters; Anne Laughran and her husband Jim and Mary Erickson and her husband Wayne one brother; Edward Waterworth and his wife Denise. John leaves eight grandchildren; Joshua Waterworth, Jordan Waterworth, Hayden Goodwin, Jacob Waterworth, Emily Waterworth, Alexis Waterworth, Riley Waterworth and Savannah Waterworth. 6 great-grandchildren; Sophia, Ginger, Vanessa, Elizabeth, Cayde, Gabriel and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday December 16th from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Edgar J. Racicot Inc. Funeral Home, 1400 Broadway Rd., Dracut. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday December 17th at 10:30 am at St. Monica Church in Methuen. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
