TEWKSBURY: Eveline (Kurz) Leighton, age 72, a resident of Tewksbury for 21 years, died Monday, September 4, 2006 at Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell.
She was the wife of Harvey C. Leighton, with whom she celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on July 14th.
Born in Forcheim, Germany on March 15, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Ludwig T. and Babette (Gechter) Kurz.
Mrs. Leighton was raised and educated in Germany.
In 1955, at the age of twenty-one, she emigrated to the United States and resided in Boston.
Mrs. Leighton resided in Somerville until moving to Tewksbury in 1985.
She was an active member of the Lowell Assembly of God Church.
During her retirement years, Eveline enjoyed working with her children in their business ventures.
Mrs. Leighton previously worked as a private duty home health aid.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters; Evelyn E. Merowski and her husband John of Waldwick, NJ and Ruth G. Baker and her husband Richard of Brockton, MA; two sons; Frank H. Leighton and his wife Michelle of Tewksbury and Karl-Heinz Leighton of Pittsfield; also eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Calling hours Wednesday, September 6th, from 11a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Lowell Assembly of God Church, 995 Andover St., Rte. 133, Tewksbury, followed by her funeral services to be held at the church.
