
CORNISH- Charles "Mickey" Pingree, age 88, passed away at his home in Cornish on Dec. 8, 2025.
He was born on Oct. 17, 1937, the son of the late Frank and Theresa (Croteau) Pingree and graduated from Fryeburg Academy.
Charles proudly served his country in the US Navy. He began a 34-year career as a truck driver starting at Saunders Brothers and then Agway, finishing his driving career for H.P. Hood as a Quarter Century employee. After his retirement, he purchased a portable sawmill and traveled throughout the area custom sawing for individuals and businesses. He was quite proud of some of the beams he resawed that are in the Foothills Physical Therapy building in Cornish.
He was also very community minded and dedicated 50 years with the Cornish Fire Department, 17 of those years as the Fire Chief and was a founding member of the Sacopee Rescue. He was also very active with youth sports coaching Little League Baseball for many years in Cornish.
Charles enjoyed fishing, especially at Canada Falls, hunting in the area, and was a Maine maple syrup producer for 56 years.
He is predeceased by his wife Anne who passed away in 1994 whom he was married to for 34 years; and a sister- Faith Bear.
Charles is survived by his three children- Steve Pingree and his significant other Paula of Angola, NY, Tom Pingree and his wife Lisa of Cornish, and Scott Pingree and his wife Mary of Cornish; a sister- Margaret Felts; grandchildren- Brandon Pingree, Sarah Day and her husband Ricky, Ashley Pingree and fiancée Joshua, and Michael Pingree and his wife Lydia; four great grandchildren; and one expected great grandchild; his fiancée of 30 years- Roberta Emerson; stepchildren- Melissa and her husband Steve and Greg and his significant other Vicki; and six step grandchildren- Brody, Emma, Kevin, Corey, Tyler, and Jackson.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday Dec. 19th from 3 - 5 PM at the Poitras, Neal & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple St., Cornish. Burial will be announced in the spring at Riverside Cemetery in Cornish. Online condolence messages can be submitted at the funeral home website, www.mainefuneral.com
