Laconia-Harry Louis Clement, Jr., 80, of 43 Paugus Street (Lakeport) died Monday afternoon, September 4th, 2006 at Lakes Region General Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Harry was born in Boston, Massachusetts on December 5th, 1925, the son of the late Harry L., Sr. and Ruby (McCullough) Clement. He had been a resident of South Boston for most of his life, living 13 years in Belmont, NH prior to moving to Lakeport in 1999.
Prior to his retirement Harry was a Tractor Trailer Driver for the United States Army at Fort Devens. He was a WWII Navy Veteran serving as Seaman First Class. He was involved in the Battle of Bougainville. He also served in the 11th Air Bourne Division and spent time in Korea on the 38th Parallel. He was the holder of many WWII medals. He was a member of the Navy Seabee’s Vets of America-Seacoast Island X-1. He was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1670 in Laconia, as well as many others throughout the area. He volunteered his time and resources to many charitable organizations and those in need. He was an avid animal lover.
Harry is survived by a daughter, Dawn J. Bouchea and her husband Scott of Dunstable, MA; a brother, Albert J. Clement of Ocala, FL; a step-daughter, Michelle Sullivan of Laconia; three grandsons, Jesse S. Lavioe of Nashua, Andrew J. Jenkins and Joseph C. Jenkins, Jr. both of Dunstable, MA; three step-grandchildren, PFC Julie L. Davis of Laconia stationed in Iraq, Connor and Mackenzie Sullivan both of Laconia. His dear friends Ralph and Gail Spencer of Belmont also survive him.
There were no visiting hours. Services with Military Honors were held Friday, September 8th, 2006 at 12:00 p.m. at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Rte 3, Boscawen, NH at the Columbarium. Pastor Bradley S. Wentzel of the Lakes Region Bible Church officiated.
