Obituary

SCARBOROUGH- Robert “Bud” Dahms Sr 84, passed away on December 8th at Gosnell Hospice with his family by his side after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born September 26th,1941 in Portland ME to the parents of Walter and Shirley (Stanley) Dahms.

After graduating from Portland High School in 1960, Robert enlisted into the USAF in January of 1961.

Robert married the love of his life Linda Grimmer on October 25th,1961.

After Roberts honorable discharge in 1965 he went onto work for A&P Bakery in Portland for a year before moving onto work for LC Weeks and Sons Builders from 1966 until he retired in October of 1992.

Robert had a passion for wood working and enjoyed making bird houses, restoring old furniture or working in the garden, or spending time with his family and attending their sporting events.

Robert is predeceased by his brother Walter “Pete” Dahms III.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife Linda (Grimmer) Dahms of 64 years; his children- Robert “Jim” Dahms Jr and his wife Robyn of Gorham, and Mark Dahms and his wife Victoria of Scarborough; three grandchildren Matthew Dahms of Buxton, Shelby (Dahms) Lucier and husband Blake of Kennebunk; and Jon Dahms and significant other Laura Nicolais of Liverpool New York; and two great grandchildren Brock and Boone. He is also survived by his three sisters, Katherine (Dahms) Ahlquist and husband Robert Ahlquist of Scarborough, Marjorie (Dahms) Weeks and husband Donald Weeks of Scarborough and Virginia (Dahms) Burrows and husband James Burrows of Kennebunkport.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday December 13th at 2pm with visiting hours beginning at 1pm at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt.22), Buxton. Burial will be on Monday December 15th at 1 PM at Brooklawn Memorial Park.
In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Southern Maine, 390 US Rt. 1, Scarborough, Maine 04074 for their comfort and support of Robert in his final weeks, or Tunnels for Towers, with memorial contributions made to Homes For Our Troops, 6 Main Street, Taunton, MA 02780.
