Obituary

Deborah Jeanne Barnard, 67, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, Curtis W. Barnard; her three children, Caitlyn M. Winchester, John F. Barnard, and Scott H. Barnard; her son-in-law, Hunter Winchester, and daughter-in-law, Nicole Dimond. Debbie was the proud Gigi of three grandsons: Landon (11), Connor (9), and Taylor Winchester (6). She also leaves behind her mother, Dorothy May Becker, as well as extended family and dear friends. She was predeceased by her father, William G. Becker.

Debbie was born on September 1, 1958, and was raised in Pequannock, New Jersey. She was active in church and school activities as well as devoted to community service. She played high school softball and dedicated her time at the local hospital to helping others.

Curt and Debbie raised their family in West Hartford, CT. She had a gift for interior design, sharing it in her work for others and in the way she decorated her home at the holidays. Debbie enjoyed gardening, cooking, hosting, traveling to visit family and friends and creating a beautiful and welcoming home. A full house made Debbie happy.

Family was at the center of her life. She poured her heart and unlimited energy into her marriage, her children and her grandsons. Debbie’s greatest calling was being a mother. She was especially devoted to her son, John. She met every challenge with patience, strength and unwavering love. Her fierce advocacy, gentle humor and steady presence made everyone close to her feel deeply supported and cherished throughout their lives.

Debbie will be forever missed and remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend.

A service to celebrate Debbie’s life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at First Congregational Church of Paxton, 1 Church Street, Paxton, MA 01612. Visitation will begin at 11:00am, with the service to follow at 11:30am. A luncheon reception will follow the service. A private burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks relatives and friends to donate to the Jimmy Fund in Debbie’s memory; children bravely facing cancer were close to her heart.
