Joseph Michael "Joe" Baldyga, 65, passed away on December 2, 2025, in Raymond, Maine. Born on April 8, 1960, in Boston, Massachusetts, Joe lived a life enriched by curiosity, compassion, and a deep appreciation for the natural world.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Anne Baldyga; his daughter, Elizabeth Baldyga; and his son, Aidan Baldyga. He also leaves behind his siblings: Karen McGaffigan, Elaine Teller, and Leo Baldyga. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn and Leo Baldyga.
Joe’s lifelong fascination with the universe led him to explore both the earth beneath his feet and the stars above. His passion for geology and astronomy reflected an inquisitive spirit that never waned. Whether studying rock formations or peering through a telescope at distant galaxies, he found joy in uncovering the mysteries of our world.
Music was another cornerstone of Joe’s life. His eclectic taste mirrored his open-minded nature and desire to connect with others. He often found beauty in life’s quiet moments—a walk outdoors or the rhythm of daily life—and shared that perspective with those around him.
Joe’s love for animals was well known among family and friends. His gentle demeanor made him a natural companion to creatures great and small. That same empathy extended to people; he had a rare ability to see the good in others and bring out their best simply by being himself.
A Wake will be held at the Brady & Fallon Funeral Home 10 Tower St. (Opp. Forest Hills MBTA Station) Jamaica Plain on Friday December 12 from 9:30 am until 11AM, followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church 14 Montebello Rd. Jamaica Plain at 11:30 AM.
May Joe’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire wonder in the world he so deeply cherished.
