Gaston Maurice Tremblay, 87, passed away on December 5, 2025, surrounded by the love of the family he worked so hard to provide for. A man with strong hands and an even stronger will, he spent his life building, fixing, and creating—always believing that if something was broken, you figured out a way to make it work again. That was how he lived his life, too.
The father of seven, Gaston loved his children in the way he understood best—through loyalty, hard work, and showing up when he was needed. His children—Robert, Linda, John, Kevin, Michelle (who preceded him in passing), Gus Jr., and Brian—felt that love even when words were few. Though he had his own way about him, those who knew him understood the steady, unwavering love he carried for his family.
He was happiest outdoors, where the world was simple and honest. He loved fishing at daybreak, hunting in the crisp air, and camping under the stars. Being on the water brought him peace—boating, drifting, watching the shoreline pass by. Those moments of stillness were part of who he was. He stayed active, exercised to keep himself moving, and carried a fighter’s spirit that saw him through the hardest parts of life.
For many years, Gaston worked at the apartment complex, where people came to rely on him—not just for what he could fix, but for his steady presence and his determination to help however he could.
Gaston leaves behind a family who will forever carry pieces of him: his determination, his humor, his stubborn strength, and the enduring love he held for all of them. He is survived by his children, sister, nieces and nephews, nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, each of whom carries a piece of his spirit forward.
His presence—his voice, his stories, his rough hands that could build anything, his way of simply being there—will be missed more deeply than words can express.
Though he is gone from our sight, he remains with us in the memories we hold close and in the strength he passed on. And in that way, he will always be here.
Following cremation, calling hours will be held on Friday December 12, 2025 from 4 - 7pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry.
