
Janet Wright Jones, 91, of Westport Point peacefully passed away at home on Saturday, November 29, 2025 in the presence of her family. She was the wife of the late Paul E. Jones, Jr.; they shared 46 years of marriage.
Mrs. Jones was born in Cambridge, MA, daughter of the late Benjamin and Alexa (Rhea) Wright. She and Mr. Jones spent their summers in Westport Point beginning in 1960, while maintaining other residences in Concord, MA, Cazenovia, NY, and Sint Maarten. For the past 20 years she made Westport her primary home.
Mrs. Jones earned a bachelor's degree from Smith College and a master’s degree from Harvard University, and was the co-author of two books (Concord: Its Black History and Teaching Within the Rhythms of the Semester). She had a long career in education, ultimately retiring from Middlesex Community College as a Master Teacher and Professor Emeritus. After her retirement Mrs. Jones was a member of the Westport Historical Commission and very involved in the community.
Survivors include her 2 sons, Peter C. Jones of Providence and David B. Jones and his wife Allison Ryder of Boston, along with nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late David Wright.
A celebration of life to which relatives and friends are invited will be announced at a later date.
