Mary Alice Lowell “Nana”, age 90, formerly of Stonington Connecticut passed away peacefully Monday December 1st 2025.
Mary was born on September 18th, 1935, in Weymouth Massachusetts to the late John and Ruth Casey. She was the youngest child, her older brother John Casey preceded her death. Mary was educated in the Weymouth school system in Massachusetts.
Mary married the late Raymond Lowell on June 9th, 1956 and had four beautiful children from this union; Daniel, David, Diana, and Dennis Lowell. Mary also cherished her granddaughter Jen Bray, whom she cared for and loved as her daughter. Mary was preceded in death by her daughter Diana who recently passed after a courageous battle with cancer, the family holds both losses close to heart. Mary was also preceded in death by her dear Raymond in 1995, we take comfort in knowing they are reunited once again.
Mary, lovingly referred to as Nana to everyone who knew her, was truly a force of nature. She was quick witted, strong-willed, and had a laugh that could lift any room. Nana approached life with a loving and supportive heart, family or not, everyone was taken care of and supported by her. Her strength carried her through life’s hardest moments, and her presence will be deeply missed by all.
An avid fan of red sox and someone who would never turn down a cold beer, Nana filled her days with simple pleasures and people she loved the most. She lived with a spirit that was equal parts tough, funny, and full of grit.
Nana leaves her three children, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and friends behind. In true Nana fashion, she leaves us with a life well lived, a family well loved, and more than a few stories we will laugh about for years to come. We love you Nana, may you rest peacefully.
