Walter F. Gorton, 86, and Nancye I. Gorton, 85, of Valley View Drive in Greenville, passed away. Nancye passed on Sunday October 19th in her home and surrounded by her family. Walter had passed on November 10th in RI Hospital, Providence. They had been married for 64 years.
Nancye and Walter were both born in Providence, she a daughter of the late Joseph A. and Sarah (Chagnon) Bisson, Sr. and Walter was a son of the late Walter F. and Margaret (Buckley) Gorton. They had lived in Smithfield for 60 years.
Nancye had been a cashier for the former Almacs grocery store. She had also worked in the business office of Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence before retiring.
Walter had been an employee of the phone company for over 40 years before retiring.
After retiring, Nancye and Walter enjoyed traveling and spending time with one another.
They left a daughter, Michelle Serabian and her husband Thomas of Cranston.
They were the grandparents of Vanessa and her husband Sean, Marissa and her husband Joe, Amanda and her husband Brandon and Thomas, II and his wife Stephanie. They were the great-grandparents of two.
Nancye was the sister of Carole Bisson of Warwick and Susan Notarianni of Scituate. She was the sister of the late Joseph A. Bisson. Walter was the brother of the late Ann Fontaine. They were also the loving aunt and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
