
GILFORD ---- Clinton G. Dougan, 84, of Wesley Way, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025, after doing what he loved to do most, taking his morning swim.
Clinton was born on August 25, 1941, in Springfield, MA, the son of Thomas and Marjorie (Gay) Dougan.
He grew up in Springfield and attended Technical High School, graduating in 1959 and participating on the varsity crew team. He later attended UMass Amherst where he met his wife of 61 years, graduating in 1963. After college, he served in the United States Air Force for four years, achieving the rank of captain. After his service in the Air Force, he worked for Boeing, participating in the development and construction of the first 747. Later he worked for Gillette and Parker Brothers, and finished his career with Gorton’s of Gloucester.
He enjoyed nature, photography, World War II history, and woodworking. He also enjoyed spending time on Bear Island, Lake Winnipesaukee, particularly working with the Bear Island Conservation Association, also serving a term as President. Most of all, he enjoyed his time at the pool swimming laps with his friends, and time spent with his wife, his children, and his grandchildren.
Clinton is survived by his beloved wife Jean (Faulkner) Dougan, son Thomas Dougan and his wife Tina, daughter Katherine Cort and her husband Jason, his sister Judy Walker, and six grandchildren, Jack Dougan, Sam Dougan, Annalise Quick, Noah Quick, Josie Cort and Andy Cort.
At this time there will be no services.
A burial will be held at a later date at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.
